pH試験紙変更のお知らせ

Notice of change in pH test paper

Thank you for your continued patronage of nyanpling.

We would like to inform you that we will be changing the specifications of the following products from June 2024.

We will be changing the pH test strips for products shipped after June 2024.

Therefore, we will be gradually switching over to new pH test papers using our current stock.

The changed products will be shipped as soon as the current stock is depleted.

Target product: pH test paper

Before change: pH measurement 6.0-8.0

After change: pH measurement 4.0 to 9.0 (in increments of 0.5)

At Nyampling, we are conducting awareness-raising activities to let as many owners as possible know that regular urine checks are necessary to manage the health of dogs and cats, who are our beloved family members and whom we want to stay healthy for a long time. As part of our social contribution activities, we have also started selling charity goods, with the desire to "do something, even if it is just a little bit."

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of charity goods will be donated to organizations that provide veterinary support, rescue cats and dogs, etc. We will report on our official website and social media accounts as they go along.

The urinary pH value is an important indicator for checking the health of dogs and cats, who often suffer from urinary tract diseases. In general, the ideal urinary pH for healthy cats and dogs is neutral to slightly acidic (6.0 to 6.5). If the urinary pH value is too high or low, crystals will form in the urine, which can damage the bladder and urethra, or the crystals will gather together and become stones, causing urethral blockage. If urethral blockage leads to renal failure or uremia, the situation can become very serious. Checking the urinary pH value of your dog or cat on an empty stomach on a regular basis is useful for managing their health.

Struvite crystals and calcium oxalate crystals, the two main causes of urethral stones, are more likely to form when the pH level is alkaline and acidic, respectively, so it is important to keep the urine pH level slightly acidic by providing appropriate food and hydration.

High pH value (alkaline) → Struvite crystals

Low pH value (acidic) → calcium oxalate crystals

Therefore, by changing your pH test paper to one that can measure from 4.0 to 8.0, you can determine whether your urine pH is biased toward acidity. Unlike struvite crystals, which can be controlled with dietary therapy, calcium oxalate stones can only be removed through surgery once they have formed. As part of your health management, we strongly recommend that you regularly check your urine pH at home.

*The pH test strips included with Nyampling belong to the research and experiment category and are not in vitro diagnostic drugs. They are used to simply check the pH value of urine. Nyampling can measure the pH value of fresh urine at home. Urine is prone to change in properties, so the pH value measured at home may differ from that measured at the hospital.
